Basic Christians

The Basic Christian Community of St.Paul's is one among the several basic christians communities which try to overcome the contraddiction between the Gospel message and its practising of the institutional Roman Catholic Church.

This task came to fact under the spiritual climate born after the oecumenical Council Vatican II which inspired the hope to be able to live one's own faith as part of a church conceived as "God's people" and not as "institutional society".

The Basic Christian Communities (Cdb) were born spontaneously in the years sixties and seventies, mainly in Latin America , but also in Italy, among catholic groups; on the wave of Council Vatican II (ended in 1965), they want to give a new consciousness to their life of faith in Jesus Christ's God. Keeping the Bible as well as the struggles of the oppressed people as reference the Cdb don't want to give rise to another Church, but on the contrary they want to contribute to make "another" their own Church, the Roman Catholic one, in order to have a more evangelical and believable church.
